Radiologist Breast Imaging
Dr. Anjali Malik is a breast imaging and intervention radiologist at Washington Radiology, where she sees patients across 7 locations in the DMV region. She interprets multiple modalities of radiologic imaging, detects and diagnoses breast and thyroid cancer, and works closely with physicians across multiple specialties to offer the best care for her patients. She actively advocates for women’s and public health both on Capitol Hill and within the community. As a writer and speaker, she discusses a range of topics from women's health to the utilization of social media for advocacy, radiology’s role in healthcare to technological advances in imaging. Dr. Malik studied at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Public Health - Natural Studies. She received her MD from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA, and was chosen for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society, a prestigious award to those demonstrating exceptional scholastic achievement, professionalism, and leadership capabilities. During her second year of medical school, she endured the hardship and displacement from Hurricane Katrina, an experience which shaped much of her career and delivery of care. She did her Diagnostic Radiology residency at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX, followed by the Brem Fellowship in Breast Imaging and Intervention at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Medical Faculty Associates in Washington, DC. After finishing her training, she joined Eastern Radiologists, Inc in Greenville, NC, as well as the faculty of The Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University, where she supervised medical students on their Radiology clerkships, as well as lectured on breast imaging, diagnosis and technological advances. Now at Washington Radiology, she provides breast imaging and intervention services, as well as ultrasound imaging, with a focus on thyroid and gynecologic ultrasound. She is on the faculty for the Departments of Radiology and Obstetrics and Gynecology for Virginia Commonwealth University - Inova Campus. She previously served on the Medical Advisory Committee for Bright Pink, a national non-profit through which Dr. Malik educated young women and their providers on breast and ovarian cancer risk identification, stratification, reduction and management. Her work with the Society of Breast Imaging spreads the message regarding the importance of annual screening mammography. She is a member of the American College of Radiology, on committees for Breast Economics and Government Relations; the Medical Society of the District of Columbia, on committees for advocacy and women in medicine; the District of Columbia Metropolitan Radiological Society, on committees for resident education, social media, and women & diversity; and the Radiological Society of North America. She frequently presents her work at national and international meetings.
